PORCELAIN LAMINATE VENEERS
WHAT IS A VENEER?
Veneers are very delicate and very beautiful restorations fabricated from layers of extremely thin porcelain. A properly placed veneer will also provide optimum oral health to the gingiva (gums) and will be free of redness and inflammation. The manufacturing process for the laboratory technician and the clinical steps involved in the tooth preparation and bonding protocol are likely the most labor intensive and technique sensitive in all of dentistry. Inappropriate material selection and overly aggressive tooth reduction by inexperience dentists are the most common causes for aesthetic and functional failure that we see during our consultations at Nuance. For these reasons, it is crucial to select a specialist with the extensive training and experience necessary to properly treatment plan and place veneers.
ARE YOU A GOOD VENEER CANDIDATE?
Patients that we consult with at Nuance are typically interested in refreshing the existing veneers they received 20-30 years ago with a more natural looking porcelain. Other patients that we see are either embarrassed by intrinsic enamel staining/demineralization or they are frustrated with the on-going cost of having to frequently replace old, chipped, and discolored composite (tooth-colored fillings) on their front teeth. For the second group of patients, veneers offer a relatively conservative, aesthetic, and more permanent option for altering the shape, color or position of the teeth. Unfortunately, however, not every patient is an ideal candidate for veneers. A consultation with a board-certified Prosthodontist will provide you with the information you need to know if veneers are right for you.
WHAT MAKES A NUANCE VENEER DIFFERENT?
Veneers offer a much more conservative treatment option when compared to a crown, and a much more aesthetic option when compared to white composite bonding. The close relationships that Nuance has with the best ceramists and the best porcelain manufacturers on the planet allows us to provided unmatched quality to our patients. The porcelain that we use in our veneers mimics the the optical properties and subtle details that are inherent to natural human dentition: translucency, opacity, fluorescence and intensives.
