Like many of our patients, Eric asked to receive tooth whitening to improve the cosmetics of the teeth adjacent to the two layered zirconia-based crowns that were planned. We used a very sophisticated shade matching protocol for Eric’s case so that the final crowns would blend in perfectly with his other teeth.

Due to the extensive nature of her erosion, Emily knew that she needed to seek expert care with a Prosthodontist. The amount of available tooth surface area, however, was insufficient to bond porcelain to. We relied on our surgical colleagues to perform a gum-lift (crown lengthening), which elongated the visible tooth structure that we could place our crowns on. After all of the teeth were prepared, we placed provisional (temporary) crowns in the mouth so Emily could get a good feel for the aesthetic and functional blueprint of the final restorations.

Sasha owns and operates a very popular restaurant in the heart of the Old Port in Portland, ME. She has such a fantastic smile, but she would never show it because the composite build-up on her front 4 teeth was stained and fractured. We utilized a digital smile design and 3D printed models to give Sasha a preview of our vision for her front 4 maxillary teeth. The first words out of Sharon’s mouth when she burst into Nuance Dental Specialists - “I need teeth for my wedding!” Together with our world-class ceramist and a root canal specialist, we decided to remove the outer pathological decay, bleach Sharon’s teeth from the inside out, and replace the tooth enamel with a porcelain that has the perfect combination of strength and beauty.
Sharon of course wanted to whiten her teeth before her wedding, and after we carefully selected just the right shade, we utilized a very technique sensitive protocol to condition the ceramic in our laboratory to ensure a strong and permanent bond to her natural tooth structure. Great dentistry should disappear in the mouth, and we were able to achieve this goal with Sharon.
